Floral Linen Altar Runner

This vintage linen altar runner from Portugal reflects the region’s deep tradition of devotional embroidery. Crafted by hand in Northern Portugal in the mid-20th century, it features stylized floral motifs embroidered with ponto aberto (openwork) and entremeios (drawn thread work), creating a graceful interplay between light, texture, and form.

Two finely worked circular mesh insets (rejillas) add spiritual symbolism and visual softness. The edges are scalloped and embroidered, gently framing the runner with harmony and care.
