Originating from Portugal and dated between the 1930s and 1950s, this vintage linen doily showcases cutwork embroidery (also known as Broderie Anglaise) combined with refined satin stitch to illustrate a graceful butterfly motif and softly scalloped edging. These traditional techniques — blending openwork carving with smooth, raised embroidery — were widely used across Europe to create heirloom-quality linens.
