Floral Linen Altar Runner

Crafted in Northern Portugal in the mid-20th century, this linen altar runner reflects the region’s deep tradition of devotional and decorative needlework. Originally intended for sacred spaces, its surface is delicately embroidered with punto aberto (openwork) and entredeux (entremeios) techniques, where stylized floral motifs and two finely worked circular mesh insets (rejillas) offer a quiet interplay of light, texture, and symbolism.

Finished with a scalloped embroidered edge and preserved in excellent vintage condition.
